St. Joe’s University Magis Roastery Tour

March 4, 2019 | 0 Comments

The Tour This week, we hosted about 15 students from St. Joe’s University to learn about the concept of Fair Trade, as well as a bit about roasting coffee. The students are from all different backgrounds and majors but all have the same curiosity in mind. What is Fair Trade and how can we make a difference? Well kids, you’ve come to the right place! The students shyly walked in and quickly started asking questions. It’s really nice to have a young audience who will hopefully incorporate these concepts into their own lives and share with everyone who will listen.

Filling Our Daily Cup

February 20, 2019 | 0 Comments

Many people, every day and sometimes many times a day, drink a cup of coffee. Many don’t ever think beyond that cup. And that goes for so many things, as explained in this Ted Talk by AJ Jacobs. While he doesn’t get into the concept of Fair Trade or sustainability, he literally goes and thanks the farmers in Colombia who grow the coffee he drinks, and many others along the way. The Talk is about gratitude and not taking anything for granted. We don’t need to go as far as he did by thanking some 1,000 people. You can if

New Year, New Raw Ugandan natural coffee coming soon!

January 21, 2019 | 0 Comments

This year, we get to celebrate all the efforts that led to a category of coffee that is new to specialty – Drugar (DRied UGandan ARabica). We are still in the process of perfecting our roasting style for this bean so it’s not available yet. When it is, it will be limited time only. They harvested 104 bags of this coffee in total and we have just a few bags. You can really taste the nuances of strawberry wine and blueberry wine that the beans are known for. Even though roasted in the way of a light to medium profile,

We love customer testimonials!

November 16, 2018 | 0 Comments

This is an email to our Owner/Roaster, Joe Cesa. We thought it was so great that we had to share the love with you. (As if you needed more reason to drink our coffee…!) Please note that we do not scrutinize other roasters out there. We personally understand and appreciate that everyone has their own preferences in both roasting and drinking coffee. Peace.   “I recently discovered the business card you gave me. You are very, very good at roasting coffee. No s**t, not blowing smoke. I’ve given up on every other local roaster because when I get a fresh

Coffee and Mortality Research Study

September 26, 2018 | 0 Comments

JAMA Internal Medicine, a UK based medical research association, released information from a 10 year study done on over 500,000 people. The question was if coffee was a determining factor in the mortality rate of the average human. “This large prospective cohort study found inverse associations for coffee drinking with mortality, including among participants drinking 1 up to 8 or more cups per day. No differences were observed in analyses that were stratified by genetic polymorphisms affecting caffeine metabolism. This study provides further evidence that coffee drinking can be part of a healthy diet and offers reassurance to coffee drinkers.”  While all
