Why Choose a Coffee Subscription Monthly?
Most coffee drinkers have a pretty steady routine.
You might brew two cups before work. Your household might go through four cups every morning. Or maybe coffee is flowing from breakfast through the afternoon and six cups a day is closer to reality.
If you already know you are going to buy coffee again, a monthly coffee subscription can make that routine much easier. Saving you time and money.
Instead of realizing on Sunday night that Monday morning is going to be a coffee emergency, your next order is already on its way.
At Philly Fair Trade Roasters, our current subscription program lets you choose automatic deliveries every 30, 45, or 60 days. Subscribers currently save 25% on their first subscription order and 10% on recurring deliveries. You can also adjust products, quantities, and delivery schedules as your needs change.
The goal is simple: make really good coffee easier to keep in your kitchen.
How Does a Monthly Coffee Subscription Work?
Starting a coffee subscription should not feel complicated.
First, choose the coffee you want to drink. Then select Subscribe & Save instead of making a one-time purchase. Choose the amount you need and the delivery schedule that fits your household. Note – some of our limited time coffees are not available for subscribe and save. If its not listed on the product page as a choice, it’s not available due to limited amounts of the beans.
If your coffee habits change, your subscription can change with them.
Drinking more coffee lately? Increase your quantity.
Heading away for a while? Adjust your schedule or simply pause the delivery.
Want to switch from one origin to another? Change your coffee.
A good coffee subscription monthly plan should work around your routine rather than force your routine around the subscription.
How Much Coffee Do You Need Each Month?
This is one of the biggest questions people have before starting a coffee subscription:
How many bags should I order?
We created the coffee subscription guide below to make the answer easier.

The guide uses an 8-ounce cup and a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio as a simple starting point. Actual use will change based on your mug size, brewing method, coffee strength, and how generously you scoop.
Note – many coffee brewers and those talking coffee consider 5-6 oz to be a ‘cup’ of coffee. Yes, the English language is full of these delightful nuances like a game called football that uses primarily hands with a little kicking or that milk is sold by the gallon or half gallon but soda by the liter. And on it goes. We chose to use 8 oz for a ‘cup’ of coffee since many consider 8 oz a cup when talking about drinking. Unless of course it’s alcohol which could be a can, pint, bottle or shot. So, for this chart, we said 8 oz is a cup of coffee.
For planning purposes, though, it gives you a very useful baseline.
The important part is not hitting the number perfectly on your first try.
Start close. See how much coffee you actually use. Then adjust.
That is one of the biggest advantages of a flexible coffee subscription.
Should You Subscribe to 12 oz Bags or a 5 lb Bag?
There is no single right answer.
A 12 oz bag is great if you drink less or have a few coffee drinkers in the house with different taste preferences. Makes it easy to mix and match or simply sample different coffees all in one delivery.
For example, instead of getting three bags of the same coffee, you could choose a darker roast for weekday mornings, a brighter single-origin coffee for the weekend, and another favorite for the afternoon.
That keeps your coffee routine interesting without requiring separate orders.
And lets you hit the free shipping threshold.
A 5 lb coffee subscription makes more sense for households that drink a lot of coffee or already know exactly what they like.
If you have several coffee drinkers in the house, work from home, brew a full pot every morning, or have one roast you come back to again and again, buying in a larger size can also lower your estimated cost per cup.
Our subscription infographic uses our Colombia coffee as an example for cost basis. Prices and actual yield vary, but it shows why larger bags can make sense for high-volume coffee drinkers.
Can You Mix and Match Coffee in a Subscription?
Yes—a great way to sample different coffees or simply keep all the coffee drinkers in your house happy.
You do not have to turn your monthly coffee delivery into the same exact box arriving forever.
Our subscription system allows you to choose different coffees and quantities. For example, you might have Mexico, Peru, and another favorite arrive on the same schedule. You can also change your selections as your tastes change.
That is especially useful if two people in your house like different coffee.
One person wants something rich and chocolatey.
Someone else wants something brighter.
Someone else may want decaf.
No coffee arguments needed.
Just build the delivery around what your household actually drinks.
Fresh Coffee Matters More Than Just Convenience
Automatic delivery solves the “we're out of coffee” problem.
But convenience is only part of the reason to subscribe.
Freshness matters, too.
Coffee is at its best when it has been roasted with care and has not spent months sitting in a warehouse or on a grocery store shelf.
At Philly Fair Trade Roasters, we roast in small batches and ship fresh.
That means your subscription is not just about having more coffee around.
It is about having coffee that is ready for your morning routine.
Fresh beans. Your preferred grind. Your favorite mug.
That sounds like the beginning of a pretty good day.

Organic and Fairtrade Coffee Delivered to Your Door
Convenience should not mean giving up the things you care about.
We built Philly Fair Trade Roasters around coffee that connects great flavor with responsible sourcing.
We specialize in Organic and Fairtrade coffees, roast in small batches, offer whole bean or custom grinding, and package our coffee with sustainability in mind. Certification can vary by individual coffee, so you can always check the product label and description for the specific coffee you choose.
That matters because coffee does not begin at the roaster.
It begins with the people who grow it.
Our brand is built around the idea that coffee should taste good, support farmers, consider the planet, and hopefully make your day a little better.
A coffee subscription monthly simply makes that choice easier to repeat.
Save Money with Subscribe & Save
If you are going to buy coffee regularly anyway, your subscription can also help lower the cost of your normal routine.
Philly Fair Trade Roasters currently offers 25% off your first subscription order and 10% off recurring subscription deliveries.
There is another easy way to think about your order size: shipping.
Our current free-shipping threshold is $40.
For 12 oz bags, our subscription guide recommends grouping three bags into the same delivery to cross the $40 free-shipping mark at current pricing. Those three bags can all be one coffee, or you can mix and match.
Our 5 lb bags currently cross the free-shipping threshold on their own.
That makes planning the right amount about more than simply asking, “How much coffee can I buy?”
A better question is:
How much coffee will my household use before the next delivery?
Order around that number and adjust as you learn your rhythm.

Is a 30-, 45-, or 60-Day Coffee Subscription Better?
Think about how quickly you normally finish a bag.
If you go through coffee quickly, a 30-day schedule makes sense.
If your household drinks a little less, 45 days may fit better.
If you are a lighter coffee drinker or order larger quantities at once, 60 days may give you plenty of room.
Do not get too caught up trying to predict your coffee use down to the final bean.
Your first delivery gives you a starting point.
If you notice that you still have plenty of coffee when the next shipment is coming, move your delivery farther apart or lower the quantity.
If the bag is getting suspiciously light a week before your next order, increase the amount or shorten the schedule or simply ask that you next order gets moved up to be shipped sooner. We’re happy to help.
The more you use it, the easier your subscription gets to manage it.

What Should You Look for in a Monthly Coffee Subscription?
Price matters, but it should not be the only thing you consider.
Look at how the coffee is roasted. Look at sourcing. Find out whether you can pick your own coffee. Check whether whole bean and ground options are available. Make sure you can adjust your delivery schedule without turning it into a major project.
We can answer ‘yes’ to all of those questions.
Most importantly, choose coffee you actually look forward to drinking.
Because the biggest benefit of automatic delivery disappears if you are automatically receiving coffee you do not love.
At Philly Fair Trade Roasters, our approach is pretty simple: real coffee, thoughtfully sourced, carefully roasted, and made easy to enjoy.
No artificial flavors.
No unnecessary coffee snobbery.
Just good coffee and a simpler morning routine.
Who Is a Coffee Subscription Best For?
A coffee subscription monthly plan can make sense for almost anyone who drinks coffee regularly, but it is especially useful for busy households.
If coffee is one of the first things you reach for every morning, there is a good chance it belongs on autopilot.
Parents already have enough to remember.
People rushing to work have enough to remember.
Anyone trying to get kids fed, lunches packed, dogs outside, and themselves out the door definitely has enough to remember.
Your coffee order does not need to be added to that list.
It is also useful for people who care about where their coffee comes from but do not want to spend hours researching every purchase.
Choose a coffee you trust. Set the schedule. Adjust when needed.
Simple.
