Meet Our Roaster
Our roastmaster, Joe Cesa, has been micro-roasting coffee in Philadelphia since 2002. The commitment to Fair Trade started then and was carried on to Philly Fair Trade Roasters in 2010, when he joined with partners to launch a Fair Trade coffee roasting company. Our roasting facility is in the Feltonville section of North Philly and from there we produce high-quality, roasted coffee.
What Makes Our Coffee Unique
Wholesale Coffee Programs Customized for You
We know that every business is different. From tiny corner cafes around Philadelphia to our larger supermarket partners, our organic and fair trade coffee for wholesale is customized to your needs. No pushy salespeople, no aggressive shelf tactics, just ethically-made coffee that speaks for itself. Stock your shelves with retail bags or buy our fair trade wholesale coffee beans by the bag – either way, we’ve got a program for you.
Driven By Ethical Sourcing
Fair trade and organic coffee aren’t as “niche” as they once were (and we’re glad for it!), but roasting coffee with ethics and sustainability top of mind has been our hallmark from day one. For nearly two decades, we’ve been committed to coffee that provides a living for its farmers and producers through fair or direct trade while improving the environment we all share.
Micro-Roasted With Attention To Detail
Small-batch and intentional, our coffee is roasted by a small team of committed coffee lovers with particular attention to flavor. Many of our roasts were created with someone (a friend or loved one) in mind, and we encourage our roasters to take creative liberty in how, why, and what we roast.
At Philly Fair Trade Roasters, all of our coffee roasts have a story.
Committed to Sustainability
Sustainability begins with where our coffee comes from and how our coffee is grown, but it doesn’t end there. Our retail coffee is packaged in recyclable and compostable bags mage with vegetable-based cello and recycled craft paper. This reduces waste and is perfect for fresh coffee to be consumed in a few weeks.
We also limit our roasting facility's waste! We compost our biodegradable chaff and grounds, we limit coffee waste headed to the landfill, and we recycle all possible recyclables. In as many ways possible, we strive toward being a Zero Waste facility.
