🌱 The Story Behind the Bean
This coffee is sourced from the Rogicha Drying Station in the Guji Zone, Ethiopia — a rugged, high-elevation region long celebrated for producing exceptional coffee.
Going back centuries, Guji’s fertile soil, sky-high altitudes, and favorable climate have made it ideal for cultivating heirloom coffee varieties. Legend holds that it was in the Ethiopian highlands where coffee was first discovered by a sheep herder — and Guji remains at the heart of that story today.
- Producer: Rogicha Guji
- Farm: Various smallholder farms
- Municipality: Rogicha Kebele
- Elevation: 2,200 meters above sea level
- Variety: Ethiopian Heirloom
- Process: Natural
While much of Ethiopia’s coffee is traded through the Ethiopian Coffee Exchange, this coffee is sourced through a direct supply chain with farmers delivering cherries to the Rogicha drying station. This relationship allows for deeper collaboration during pre-harvest and processing, ensuring each lot’s unique character is preserved and producers are directly supported.
